Staying in hotels along Baja's west coast makes for a great vacation getaway. There are approximately 3 dozen tourists hotels along this 800 miles stretch of coast, ranging from small and quaint to large and elaborate.
Many of the hotels along Baja's west coast are within a one hour drive of the US/Mexico border. This close proximity to the US makes weekend getaways possible, and even the longest Baja road trips usually start off with an evening or two along this Golden Coast of Baja.
The weather along Baja's west coast is similar to that of southern California, mild almost all year long with the possibility of fog in the morning hours. Sunny days prevail almost all year long!
Some of the most popular hotels on Baja's Pacific side include the Rosarito Beach Hotel (Rosarito Beach), the San Nicolas Hotel (Ensenada), and smaller oceanfront hotels such as Calafia Hotel and La Fonda Hotel.

TIJUANA HOTELS
Hotels in Tijuana run the whole range, from quaint to first class. The
staff at the larger hotels usually speak good English, but don't hesitate
to try one of the many smaller motels throughout the city.
Inspecting the room before you commit is an acceptable practice, and a good idea if you
are not sure.
For those who are visiting the area with a sense of adventure, Tijuana is just a short drive to the Pacific Coast and the quaint beachside towns that head south from the border. Even though the Rosarito Beach Hotel started it all, there are now many
additional good hotels in the Rosarito area. Prices vary from inexpensive
to top end, with the nicer and larger hotels sitting right on the beach. Staying on the south end of town puts you right in the middle of Rosarito Beach's main action!
The Rosarito Beach Hotel is still a favorite place to stay, especially the newer south tower. The Festival Plaza Hotel, located just south of the Rosarito Beach Hotel, is also a top choice for visitors looking for top end lodging. Ensenada offers every type of hotel and lodging Baja travelers will need.
The larger hotels cater to English speaking Baja travelers, as do some of
the smaller operations.
Like most big towns, securing your vehicle during
an overnight stay is a good idea. Petty auto theft is not uncommon in Ensenada. If you have any valuables in your car, it's best to take them with you into the hotel room at night.
When considering a location for your stay in Ensenada, think about where you are planning to spend most of your time. If the main thrust of your trip is to eat, drink and shop, you might want to consider a hotel downtown, near all of the tourist action, located on AVENIDA LOPEZ MATEOS. If, on the other hand, the main purpose of your trip is to go fishing, you might want to consider the convenience of a hotel near the harbor, or just north of town at the Marina!

Baja travel writer Joe Cummings was the first to break the story that the Eagles had absolutely no involvement in the hotel whatsoever, but rumors have still made it a popular attraction. The hotel has been purchased by a group of optimistic Canadians, but it is still closed at this time. Stay tuned!

BAJA WEST COAST HOTELS
Staying in hotels along Baja's west coast makes for a great vacation getaway. There are approximately 3 dozen tourists hotels along this 800 miles stretch of coast, ranging from small and quaint to large and elaborate.
Many of the hotels along Baja's west coast are within a one hour drive of the US/Mexico border. This close proximity to the US makes weekend getaways possible, and even the longest Baja road trips usually start off with an evening or two along this Golden Coast of Baja.
The weather along Baja's west coast is similar to that of southern California, mild almost all year long with the possibility of fog in the morning hours. Sunny days prevail almost all year long!
Some of the most popular hotels on Baja's Pacific side include the Rosarito Beach Hotel (Rosarito Beach), the San Nicolas Hotel (Ensenada), and smaller oceanfront hotels such as Calafia Hotel and La Fonda Hotel.
Golfers can enjoy the convenience of the on-site hotels at Real del Mar and Baja Mar golf courses, less than an hour from the border.
There are three Desert Inn Hotels on Baja's west coast, Ensenada, San Quintin and Guerrero Negro. For those heading south along Baja Highway One there is also a Desert Inn Hotel in Catavina. Reservations are rarely needed except on big weekends.

TIJUANA HOTELS
Hotels in Tijuana run the whole range, from quaint to first class. The staff at the larger hotels usually speak good English, but don't hesitate to try one of the many smaller motels throughout the city.
Inspecting the room before you commit is an acceptable practice, and a good idea if you are not sure.
For those who are visiting the area with a sense of adventure, Tijuana is just a short drive to the Pacific Coast and the quaint beachside towns that head south from the border. Staying a night or two in Tijuana and then trying another hotel along the "Gold Coast" can be a fun way to enjoy the area.
The next selection of larger hotels south of Tijuana include ROSARITO BEACH and ENSENADA.
There are also several small towns along the coast with good hotels! These hotels range from the funky rooms and LA FONDA to the first class rooms at LAS ROCAS.
Golfers might consider staying at the nice hotels available at REAL DEL MAR and BAJAMAR just south of Tijuana.

A first class hotel has been built as an intricate part of the over all master plan at Real Del Mar. It is the only lodging facility on site, although many other accommodations (from cheap to expensive) can be found just a short drive south in ROSARITO BEACH.

ROSARITO BEACH HOTELS
Even though the Rosarito Beach Hotel started it all, there are now many additional good hotels in the Rosarito area. Prices vary from inexpensive to top end, with the nicer and larger hotels sitting right on the beach. Staying on the south end of town puts you right in the middle of Rosarito Beach's main action!
The Rosarito Beach Hotel is still a favorite place to stay, especially the newer south tower. The Festival Plaza Hotel, located just south of the Rosarito Beach Hotel, is also a top choice for visitors looking for top end lodging. Also, the Las Rocas Hotel, located about 15 minutes south of town, is a great choice for a first rate hotel.
For the Baja traveler who wants to try something a little different, there are many condos and private residences for rent in Rosarito proper, as well as north and south of town.
Also, if you are a golfer, both the REAL DEL MAR golf course (north of town) and the BAJAMAR golf course (south of town) offer first rate accommodations right on the golf course!

One doesn't have to stay at the Las Glorias to enjoy Bajamar, but it just makes it golfing here so convenient! There are other hotels north of Baja, but few as nice.
ENSENADA HOTELS
Ensenada offers every type of hotel and lodging Baja travelers will need. The larger hotels cater to English speaking Baja travelers, as do some of the smaller operations.
Like most big towns, securing your vehicle during an overnight stay is a good idea. Petty auto theft is not uncommon in Ensenada. If you have any valuables in your car, it's best to take them with you into the hotel room at night.
When considering a location for your stay in Ensenada, think about where you are planning to spend most of your time. If the main thrust of your trip is to eat, drink and shop, you might want to consider a hotel downtown, near all of the tourist action, located on AVENIDA LOPEZ MATEOS. If, on the other hand, the main purpose of your trip is to go fishing, you might want to consider the convenience of a hotel near the harbor, or just north of town at the Marina!

Coyote Cal's Youth Hostel is located 45 minutes south of Ensenada just off the main highway at km. 78 for those looking for a cheap place to stay near the beach.
SAN QUINTIN HOTELS
First class hotel accommodations are not San Quintin's strongest suite, although there are grand plans on the drawing board to change that.
Meanwhile, the existing hotels and motels provide a good place to hang your hat while exploring the San Quintin area.
There are quite a few small hotels scattered on both sides of Highway One, most of them very affordable. However, the tourist hotels tend to be near the bay, just south of town, and to the west.
TODOS SANTOS HOTELS
Accommodations are sparse in Todos Santos, but increasing year by year. There are no mega-resorts in Todos like there are in Cabo (thank goodness!) so the charm of the town remains strong. The few hotels and inns that are available are small, and offer more of a personalized touch.
Another small but very fun hotel 75 minutes around the Cape from Todos Santos is the CABO SURF HOTEL. If you like to surf this is your dream hotel...located on a small bluff right above Cabo's best waves!
