San Felipe is pretty easy to get to...it's just 123 miles south of the U.S. border at Mexicali. So Baja travelers visit San Felipe in almost any kind of vehicle. It's a great two day (or more) getaway. Hotels and private homes to rent are plentiful.
The road south of San Felipe to Bahia de los Angeles is a donkey of a different color. 25 miles south of San Felipe the paved road falls apart, and south of Puertecitos the asphalt disappears all together. This dirt road finally connect with Baja Highway One again, and then the paved road to Bahia de los Angeles makes for smooth driving over the last 46 miles back to the coast.
