BISBEES BAJA FISHING TOURNAMENTS
For over 24 years one name stands out for hosting premier fishing tournaments in Baja. Bisbee's is known far and wide as the event for fishermen who want to try their luck at tight lines and a big jackpot to boot.
The brains behind these annual tournaments is Wayne and Tricia Bisbee. Not that they do it alone as there are plenty of other people who contribute to make the Bisbee events a reality. But behind every great idea there are one or two people who guide the show, and Wayne and Tricia are a good team.
What's all the fuss about? Why is Bisbee's so talked about in the fishing world? Where there are lot of reasons, not the least of which is big jackpots. The winner of the 2003 Bisbee's Black and Blue Marlin Jackpot Tournament went home with $1,165,230. Not exactly chump change for a fishing trip. As a matter of fact is was another world's record purse.
Fishermen from all across the United States head to Cabo and the East Cape each October to join the fun. Some of them motor their boats down themselves, some send their boats down with a captain and crew, and some have their boats sent down on large ocean going ships. And those who don't own boats either find somebody who does, or reserve a charter boat just for the occassion.
